Plot Summary

Usually in the Legend of Zelda game series, Link is the main character. It starts as Link trying to rescue Princess Zelda from the evil bad guy known as Ganon, but Link ends up disappearing into a mystery world! There are these strange portal-like tears that appear all over the world of Hyrule and many of the Hyruleans disappear! This leaves Princess Zelda as the hero this time and she has to go and rescue Link and the people of Hyrule! She does not have the traditional hack and slash method of rescuing and instead uses a tool known as the “Tri Rod” with the help of a little star-looking creature. The Tri Rod can create something called “Echoes” which is what she can use to help her solve all the different puzzles. She can create Echoes from the bad guys, from inanimate objects such as beds and chairs, and so much more!

Why Do I like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom?

I am a Legend of Zelda fan! I got this game to play with my son as he has never really played a Legend of Zelda game. He is 10 years old and he has had so much fun playing this game with me! I will say it isn’t super easy for him to play by himself as the puzzles are not so easy, but this would be just fine for the young adult age range no problem. The best thing about this game is the fact that I get to play as ZELDA! I mean how cool is that? The fight system is also very fun and getting all of the different Echoes is the best part. There are also a few costume changes which is a super cute feature and the costume changes actually add to the playability. I wish there had been more costumes added!

Creator Background:

This game was created by Nintendo and Grezzo. Grezzo has created other games for Nintendo, specifically recreating A Link’s Awakening for Nintendo. They have a very particular cutesy art style that is used and a very fun and creative hand with their work. Great that Nintendo decided to use them for another fun addition and this time a completely new and individual game for the Legend of Zelda series! (Wikipedia, 2025)

Critical Evaluation for the Game

The game for me has an incredibly solid play structure, super amount of fun factor, and is generally fairly easy to solve as you can really use whatever mechanic you want to solve the puzzles. There was only a few times that I was stumped and had to use a guide to help me solve the puzzles. I am not completely finished with the game as I am still playing it with my son so I cannot say completely how the ending is like. The thing I am noticing the most is that I tend to use the same Echoes over and over again as they have the best playability factor. The bed is my favorite Echo along with the water blocks.

Creative Use for a Library Program

If the library has a JavaScript program, there are ways to make a very simple and easy Legend of Zelda-type sprite script! Perhaps someone can be hired to help teens create their own sprite program! Fun way to teach simple code and also make a tiny and cute game!

Speed Round Game Talk

Zelda from the Legend of Zelda has to save Link and the towns people of Hyrule by using the Tri Rod and creating bad guys that will fight her battles, items that will help her swim, jump and climb, and costumes that will increase her amazing abilities!

Potential Challenge Issues and Defense Preparation:

There is a very slight amount of fantasy violence as weapons are used against creatures, but otherwise it is a lovely and easy-going game suitable for most ages.

Reason for Inclusion:

I included this in my collection because it is the most recent game in the Legend of Zelda series and something I wanted to have a chance to play. I saw that the game was well-received and I was very much looking forward to seeing Zelda as the hero as opposed to Link. Having the princess as the main character in the game to save Link is the best and makes me so happy! I think this game is perfect for the young adults and simple enough to play after school, but also fun and challenging.
