#18 With You Our Love Will Make It Through – New Manga

Plot Summary

Human-like beasts have been created in a lab and are contained in a small population of Tokyo. However, certain beasts are now allowed to live and work outside of the walls they are contained in due to their calmer natures so that they can contribute to society and better their opportunities. Hidaka is a 16-year-old beast boy who looks like a large wolf dog who joins a human high school and there he immediately befriends a kind girl named Asaka who can’t seem to stop thinking about him after he helps her down from the wall that separates the beasts from the humans. Hidaka is bullied by humans, but he keeps his incredibly kind and sweet nature despite all the taunting and teasing. Hidaka and Asaka find themselves in some compromising situations where Asaka’s attraction to Hidaka causes his primal urges to overwhelm him which surprises him as he’s never had these feelings before. Together they try and figure out what is ok and not ok when it comes to their friendship and during this time, another friend named Aida comes to Hidaka’s defense as well and the three become a small trio as they try and help Hidaka from the bullies in the human world.

Author Chihiro Yuzuki

Chihiro Yuzuki is a mangaka (manga artist and writer) who is relatively new to the scene. It seems she has recently written manga and With You Our Love Will Make It Through it has already been made into an anime that will debut in Fall of 2025 which is wild as this manga has only widely been released in 2024. The chapter release started in a magazine in Japan in 2021 (Wikipedia, 2025).

What do I like about this manga?

I chose this manga because I liked the cover and I saw it was very recently published. It reminds me of the 80s and 90s where every tv show and movie had these beast humanoid people. Very reminiscent of Disney’s animated Robin Hood or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the Biker Mice from Mars. There are actually too many examples to choose from when it comes to this kind of thing. I grew up loving these kind of stories and so when I saw this it reminded me of it. I also know this may be diving a bit into furry territory which I know nothing about, but perhaps this may dive into it I really do not know, but when it comes to this manga specifically, what I like about it is that the plot immediately gets into how poorly the beast folk are treated. You can also see that there are humans that feel strongly about protecting the rights of the beast folk and that there are humans that feel that beast folk should not be treated the same as human kind.

The cute yearning between the main characters is adorable and the manga drawings are beautiful. I love the style. I like the idea of the pheromones of the human girl attracting the beast – I gotta say I was blushing! Makes me think of the Beauty and the Beast.

I mean…this is the anime! How cute?!?! I love the size difference of the characters I think it’s adorable! I know it isn’t for everyone, but as a child of the 90s, it works for me!

Critical Evaluation For the Book:

There is no real explanation for how the beast people came to be. They just ARE. It’s glossed over. Which is fine. And they seem to only exist in Japan in this world. Again it’s not too bad. It just works the way it does. They also state that humans and beasts can procreate. How? Unclear. The main dog beast has a human mother and a beast father. There doesn’t seem to be laws against it, but a TON of prejudice and hate for interspecies relationships in the world so they will have a lot against them. I am not sure how they will address it in the book as it seems it will be a fairly difficult storyline.

Creative Uses for A Library Program

Manga Week anyone? I wonder if there were actually beastfolk what would you actually draw? How did anyone come up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Or the characters from Zootopia? I think a how-to-draw manga from a manga artist would be so cool. I actually had that happen when I was in college with my anime club. We had a mangaka (manga artist) come to our club and teach us how to paint and draw animation cells-it was such a wonderful experience and I never forgot it! In fact, I am still friends with the mangaka so many years later!

Speed Round Book Talk

Beastfolk exist in the world with humans. Hidaka is a 16 year-old dog beast folk who goes to a human school and ends up meeting Asaka who falls head-over-heels for him. They become fast friends despite all their differences, deal with prejudice, and learn to deal with teenage hormones, and school trials and tribulations.

Potential Challenge Issues and Defense Preparation

Definitely the fact that her lust for him causes him to lose control at times and his reactions to her is a big part of this storyline. Of course, teen stories include sex, but the fact that this is between a “beast” and a human makes this kind of weird. I saw that the anime is going to be on Crunchyroll and typically Crunchyroll does not have anime that is what I would term “spicy” so this shouldn’t cross that territory, but it could?

I double- checked. It’s not spicy. Ha! Sorry kids. 😉

Reason for Inclusion:

I included this book because I think it’s cute. It gave me the warm and fuzzies and the art style is really pretty. I picked it up on a whim at the bookstore! I like that there is going to be an anime about it soon even though the manga has barely begun. I love that the characters have the biggest crushes on each other so quickly. It’s incredibly adorable. I think teenagers will like this a lot. Having an anime to accompany this in the future also makes this manga even more appealing.
